ACHENWALL (1719-1772)  , See also:German statistician, was See also:born at See also:Elbing, in See also:East See also:Prussia, in See also:October 1719 . He studied at See also:Jena, See also:Halle and See also:Leipzig, and took a degree at the last-named university . He removed to See also:Marburg in 1746, where for two years he read lectures on See also:history and on the See also:law of nature and of nations . Here, too, he commenced those inquiries in See also:statistics by which his name became known . In 1748 he was given a professorship at See also:Gottingen, where he resided till his See also:death in 1772 . His See also:chief See also:works were connected with statistics . The Staatsverfassung der heutigen vornehmsten europaischen Reiche appeared first in 1749, and revised See also:editions were published in 1762 and 1768 .
