ANTIPYRINE (phenyldimethyl pyrazolone) (C11H12NZO), is prepared by the condensation of phenylhydrazine with acetoacetic ester, the resulting phenyl methyl pyrazolone being heated with methyl iodide and methyl alcohol to roo-zroe C.:-
