APSE  and APSIDES, in See also:

mechanics, either of the two points of an See also:orbit which are nearest to and farthest from the centre of See also:motion . They are called the See also:lower or nearer, and the higher or more distant apsides respectively . The " See also:line of apsides" is that which joins them, forming the See also:major See also:axis of the orbit .
