BERGAMASK, or BERGOa1ASK (from the town of Bergamo in North Italy), a clumsy rustic dance (cf. Shakespeare, Midsummer Night's Dream, v. 360) copied from the natives of Bergamo, reputed to be very awkward in their manners.
