BIEKKICH  , a

town of Germany, in the Prussian province of Hesse-Nassau, on the right bank of the Rhine, 3 m . S. from Wiesbaden, of which it is the river port, and on the main line of railway from Cologne to Frankfort-on-Main . Pop . (1900) 15,048; (1905) 20,137 . The palace of the former dukes of Nassau occupies a fine position on the river bank, and the shady gardens and groves attract large numbers of visitors during the summer . It is an important steamboat station for both passenger and cargo traffic, and besides manufactures of cement, dyes and soap, has a considerable trade in the wines of the district .
