He collaborated with J . See also:Peri in the See also:early attempts at musical See also:drama which were the ancestors of See also:modern See also:opera (Dafne, 1594, and Euridice, 1600), produced at Florence by the circle of musicians and amateurs which met at the houses of G . Bardi and Corsi . He also published in 16o1 Le nuove musiche, a collection of songs which is of See also:great importance in the See also:history of singing as well as in that of the transition See also:period of musical See also:composition . He was a lyric composer rather than a dramatist like Peri, and the genuine beauty of his See also:works makes them acceptable even at the See also:present See also:day .
