CAHOKIA, the name of a North American Indian tribe of the Illinois confederacy, and of their mission station, near St Louis. The " Cahokia mound " there (a model of which is in the Pea-body Museum, Cambridge, Mass.) is interesting as the largest pre-historic earth-work in America.
