The principle employed by Retzius is to take the longer diameter of a skull, the antero-posterior diameter, as zoo; if the shorter or transverse diameter falls below 8o the skull may be classed as long (See also: dolichocephalic), while if it exceeds 8o the skull is broad (brachycephalic) (see See also: CRANIOMETRY)
