CUBICLE (Lat. cubiculum), a small chamber containing a couch or a bed. The small rooms opening into the atrium of a Pompeian house are known as cubicula. In modern English schools " cubicle " is the term given to the separate small bed-rooms into which the dormitories are divided, as opposed to the system of large open dormitories.
