Climbing Plant
A plant which reaches towards the light by clinging to neighbouring plants, walls, or other supports, sometimes referred to by the general term vine. Various means are used, including twining stems and leaf-stalks, tendrils, and aerial roots. Ramblers merely grow against and lean on their supports, but often have thorny hooks to help grip. Lianes have long, woody stems which reach high into the forest canopy, and are found especially in the tropics.
