Vitalienbrüder
Buccaneers operating in the North Sea and the Baltic. They supplied the town of Stockholm with victuals (Vitalien) during its siege by Denmark (1389–92), after which they mainly seized ships of the Hanseatic League in the North Sea. Its legendary leaders, Klaus Störtebeker and Godeke Michels, were captured in 1401 and executed in Hamburg.
