Cloethiel Woodard Smith Biography (1910–93)

Architect, born in Peoria, Illinois, USA. Trained in both architecture and city planning, she founded a Washington, DC firm bearing her name (1963), specializing in urban planning and renewal and new town residential communities. Her work is characterized by small scale and attention to community activities, and includes the Southwest Urban Renewal Area and Waterfront, Washington, DC, and La Clede Town, St Louis, MO.
