Visible Record Computer (VRC)

An old form of computer in which the files of data to be processed are held as cards with a magnetic strip on one edge. The magnetic strip holds the data which the computer is to read and process. The card also has printing on it, which provides users with a visible record of the data being processed. Although there are still some visible record computers in operation, they are now uncommon.
