Clifford (Donald) Simak Biography (1904–88)

Science fiction writer, born in Milville, Wisconsin, USA. During the Depression he became a journalist in Michigan, then joined the Minneapolis Star, to which he contributed a weekly science column for the rest of his life. He started publishing science fiction stories in 1931. His major work was the story sequence The City (1952), a chronicle in which dogs and robots take over a world abandoned by people.
