Clemence Dane Biography (1888–1965) (pseudonym of Winifred Ashton)
Novelist and playwright, born in Greenwich, EC London, UK. Her novels include Regiment of Women (1917), Legend (1919), and The Flower Girls (1954). Many of her plays achieved long runs, notably A Bill of Divorcement (1921), and the ingenious reconstruction of the poet's life in Will Shakespeare (1921).
