Viviparity

In animals, the production of live young rather than eggs. The embryos grow within the mother's body, which provides nourishment via a placenta or similar structure. Viviparity occurs in placental mammals and some other animals. In plants, it refers to the production of seeds that germinate within the fruit while still attached to the parent plant.
