Clinical Linguistics

The application of linguistics to the analysis of disorders of spoken, written, or signed language. It emerged in the 1970s as an ancillary subject to speech pathology, and has since developed into a separate academic field, investigating the nature of the problems of pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and language use in adults and children.
