Kiwi Fruit

A woody climber (Actinidia chinensis), native to China, and also called Chinese gooseberry, but cultivated on a commercial scale in New Zealand, hence the better-known name; leaves rough, oval to heart-shaped; flowers creamy, 6-petalled, in axillary clusters; fruit oblong-oval, furry with reddish-green hairs, flesh green, sweet, with surrounding black seeds. (Family: Actinidiaceae.)
