In the theological conflict of the See also:time he played a large See also:part, doing what he could to mediate between the extremists . From 1559 to the close of his See also:life he was See also:superintendent-See also:general of the electorate of See also:Saxony . He attained some fame as a hymn-writer, his best-known See also:composition being " Wenn wir in hichsten Nothen sein." He died_ at Wittenberg on the loth of See also:December 1569 .
