ENCAENIA, a festival commemorating a dedication, in Greek rc4 iyeaivca (Kaevbs, new), particularly used of the anniversary of the dedication of a church (see DEDICATION). The term is also used at the university of Oxford of the annual Commemoration, held in June, of founders and benefactors (see OXFORD).
