In 1862 See also:Forey was placed in command of the See also:French expeditionary See also:corps in See also:Mexico, with the fullest See also:civil and military See also:powers, and he crowned a successful campaign by the See also:capture of Mexico See also:city in May 1863, receiving as his See also:reward the marshal's See also:baton . From December 1863 to '867 he held high commands in France, but in the latter See also:year he was struck with See also:paralysis and had to retire . Marshal Forey died at Paris on the 20th of See also:June 1872 .
