I have been told by me father that my grandfather Mr. (later Captain and M.E.) Joseph Samuel BADGE b.16.6.1867 St. Hilary's Cornwall, Blacksmith and mining engineer accompanied John Forrest on one of his expedition. My grandfather had a part to play in the discovery of gold at the Murchison River. He was married to Jane Henrietta CATCHLOVE (? CATCHPOLE) daur. of Henry CATCHLOVE and Emma nee FILMER. I WILL APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION OF EVIDENCE OR OTHERWISE OF THIS ASSOCIATION with the mane who later became the Governor of Western Australia Walter BADGE of Port Macquarie and previously of Perth W.A.
Since my first comment I have learnt that my grandfather was the foreman steelworker/blacksmith on the Murray Bridge. Please refer to main copy.
