He was interested in the See also:tobacco See also:trade; in 1715 he conveyed 130 Jacobite prisoners to the See also:American plantations . In 1723, having lost in See also:speculation the See also:fortune which he had inherited from his father, he went himself to See also:Virginia as See also:collector of customs on the Rappahannock See also:river . He died in See also:Jamaica in 1729 . A Liverpool See also:street is named See also:Sir See also:Thomas Buildings after him .
