A feast held at Wymondham in See also:July 1549 See also:developed into a See also:riot and gave the See also:signal for the outbreak . Leading his followers to See also:Norwich, See also:Ket formed a See also:camp on Mousehold See also:Heath, where he is said to have commanded 16,000 men, introduced a See also:regular See also:system of discipline, administered See also:justice and blockaded the See also:city . He refused the royal offer of an See also:amnesty on the ground that See also:innocent and just men had no need of See also:pardon, and on the 1st of See also:August 1549 attacked and took See also:possession of Norwich . See also:John See also:Dudley, See also:earl of See also:Warwick, marched against the rebels, and after his offer of pardon had been rejected he forced his way into the city, See also:driving its defenders before him . Then, strengthened by the arrival of some See also:foreign mercenaries, he attacked the See also:main See also:body of the rebels at Dussindale on the 27th of August . Ket's men were easily routed by the trained soldiery, and See also:Robert and William Ket were seized and taken to See also:London, where they were condemned to See also:death for See also:treason . On the 7th of See also:December 1549 Robert was executed at Norwich, and his body was hanged on the See also:top of the See also:castle, while that of William was hanged on the See also:church See also:tower at Wymondham .
