From this See also:taste, or from his See also:personal deformity, he was nicknamed Bamboccio by the Italians . On his return to Holland about 1639, he lived chiefly at See also:Amsterdam and See also:Haarlem, in which latter See also:city he died in 1674 or 1675 . His pictures are marked by skilful See also:composition and See also:good See also:drawing; he was especially careful in See also:perspective . His colouring, according to See also:Crowe, is " generally of a warm, brownish See also:tone, sometimes very clear, but oftener heavy, and his See also:execution broad and spirited." Certain etched plates are also attributed to him .
