In 187 2 he published a See also:Manual of English See also:Prose Literature, which was distinguished by See also:sound See also:judgment and sympathetic appreciation; and his Characteristics of English Poets from See also:Chaucer to See also:Shirley (1874) showed the same high qualities . His other See also:works include: The Literature of the Georgian Era (1894) edited with a See also:biographical introduction by W . See also:Knight a monograph on See also:Defoe in the English Men of Letters See also:series (1879); three novels of small importance, and numerous articles on See also:literary subjects in the 9th edition of the See also:Encyclopaedia Britannica . He died on the 1st of See also:March 1893 .
