Among his converts was Ebel, who from 1810 onwards gained a See also:great reputation in Konigsberg as an See also:earnest preacher of the orthodox doctrines of'See also:sin, See also:grace and redemption, and in 1816 was appointed " See also:archdeacon," i.e. See also:principal pastor, at the old See also: Sin came with the Fall of See also:Man; and this infection, inherited with the See also:blood, necessitated redemption in See also:order to restore the See also:harmony of the primal powers . This was the work of See also:Christ, who descended into a world the inhabitants of which are divided into See also:children of Light and children of Darkness . The See also:power of the See also:Holy See also:Ghost, emanating from Christ, perfects the higher natures in whom Christ's " See also:law of righteousness " is represented and who to a certain extent See also:share in his being; it becomes their See also:duty to obtain See also:control over the See also:lower natures so as to struggle against the powers of Darkness in them—powers which can be overcome by See also:prayer, See also:fasting and self-See also:mortification generally . The end was near and the See also:triumph of the Light assured . See also:Anti-christ (See also:Napoleon) had already appeared, and when Christ came he would find no faith on the See also:earth (See also:Luke xviii . 8) because faith would be swallowed up in knowledge . inevitable . Matters came to a See also:head in 1835, when See also:Count Finckenstein, himself formerly an initiate, denounced the two pastors and accused them of immorality .
