HANS KONRAD VON See also:ORELLI (1846- ) , Swiss theologian, was See also:born at See also:Zurich on the 25th of See also:January 1846 and was educated at See also:Lausanne, Zurich and See also:Erlangen . He also visited See also:Tubingen for See also:theology and See also:Leipzig for See also:oriental See also:languages . In 1869 he was appointed preacher at the See also:orphan See also:house, Zurich, and in 1871 Privatdozent at the university . In 1873 he went to See also:Basel as See also:professor extxaordinarius of theology, becoming See also:ordinary professor in 1881 . His See also:chief See also:work is on the Old Testament; in addition to commentaries on See also:Isaiah, See also:Jeremiah (1886), See also:Ezekiel and the Twelve Prophets (1888), most of which have been translated, he wrote See also:Die alttestamentliche Weissagung von der Vollendung See also:des Gottesreiches (See also:Vienna, 1882; Eng. trans . See also:Edinburgh, 1885), Die himmlischen Heerschaaren (Basel, 1889), and a See also:journal of Palestinian travel, Durchs Heilige See also:Land (Basel, 1878) . |
