From the year 1890 to 1905 he represented the See also:county of See also:Saint-Sauveur as a Liberal in the legislative See also:assembly of his native province, and on the formation of the Marchand See also:administration in 1897 he accepted the See also:port-See also:folio of See also:minister of lands, forests and See also:fisheries . After Marchand's See also:death in September 1900 he was called by the See also:lieutenant-See also:governor to See also:form a See also:cabinet, and continued in See also:office as See also:prime minister until his retirement from public See also:life in See also:August 1905 . Parent proved a capable See also:administrator of provincial and municipal affairs . Under his administration the finances of the city of Quebec were improved, an electric See also:car service was provided, public parks were opened, a See also:system of electric See also:light was established and the streets were well paved . In 1905 he became chairman of the Transcontinental railway of See also:Canada . |
