This is a small and beautiful town near sutluj river in jallandher distt.Name of the fort is maharaja Ranjit singh fort , Now its occupied by police training centre.The student of this academy plays a important role to keep the town clean.
Phillaur is dream town.. here is fort of Mharaja Ranjit Singh but now police used that fort..
Yes, I totally agree it is a beautiful little town. There use to be a school there called hooshan da school did anyone attend this school in the 60s? Is this school still there? There was also a factory famous for making a machine called Master Toka for the agricultural areas. Does anyone remember the family name of the owners? I live in Amritsar now but would like to visit this place again because I have such beautiful memories of this place. There used to be a huge house somewhere near the bazar with lots of interesting stories about it.
Landra Toka on Nurmahal Road - they manufactured chaff cutters, threshing machines etc. Family originally based in Landra - hence the name. That whole stretch of Road was an 'integrated site' - large residence then businessmen' quarters then gardens then dairy then workers quarters then factory proper
I have been living in phillaur from 1945 to 1962 , I have lot of memories of phillur , I have known Landra familes and Dhiman family who owned Dhiman iron and steel co at Noormahal road at phillaur ,not far from landra factory, I also know about Gur partap & sons in phillaur and many others , I have studied in Govt high sshool from 1952 to 1962 My name J.
