N. of See also:Ludhiana . Pop . (1901), 6986 . Founded by the See also:Mogul See also:emperor Shah Jahan, it was See also:long of importance as commanding the See also:crossing of the Sutlej . At the See also:Mutiny in 1857 the fort contained the See also:siege See also:train, which was sent safely to See also:Delhi; but the See also:sepoy See also:regiment in the See also:cantonment shortly afterwards mutinied and escaped . The fort is now occupied by the See also:police training school and the central See also:bureau of the criminal See also:identification See also:department .

This is a small and beautiful town near sutluj river in jallandher distt.Name of the fort is maharaja Ranjit singh fort , Now its occupied by police training centre.The student of this academy plays a important role to keep the town clean.
Phillaur is dream town.. here is fort of Mharaja Ranjit Singh but now police used that fort..
