On the 3rd of See also:December 1779 she was Perdita in Garrick's version of The See also:Winter's See also:Tale, and her beauty so captivated See also:George, See also:prince of See also:Wales (afterwards George IV.), then in his eighteenth See also:year, that he began a See also:correspondence with her, See also:signing himself " Florizel." She was for about two years his See also:mistress, but he then deserted her, even dishonouring his See also:bond for £20,000, payable when he came of See also:age, and See also:left her to obtain a See also:pension of £500 in See also:exchange for it from See also:Charles See also:James See also:Fox . Owing to the hostility of public See also:opinion, she feared to return to the See also:stage, but she published some more volumes of her writings .
