The word 'Rohilkhand' carries a pure sanskrit word 'khand'.It clearly indicates that the original rulers were hindu rohillas and not muslim rohillas.Had it been muslim rohillas, the name would have something like 'Rohillabad'.Infact encyclopedia Columbia mentions of this.It says there existed a hindu rohilla kingdom with its capital at Barreily from 1702 to 1720. This comment is not to get involved into a hindu-muslim debate, but an attemt at finding out the facts about the hindu rohillas who are spread all over UP.Haryana,Rajasthan.I would be greatful if someone can throw some light on these people ramesh rohilla
