SEE (See also:

Lat. sedes, a seat)  , a seat or See also:throne, particularly the throne of a See also:bishop, the cathedra, the See also:symbol of his See also:office and dignity, the placing of which in a See also:church makes it a See also:cathedral (q.v.) . The See also:term is thus applied to the See also:place where the bishop's cathedral is situated and from which he properly takes his See also:title, and so is to be distinguished from See also:diocese(q.v.), the territorial See also:province over which his See also:jurisdiction extends (see Bisaor) .
