In the following See also: July he assisted Nelson in the unsuccessful attack on See also: Santa Cruz, and in See also: August 1798, when getting into position for the attack on the French See also: fleet, the " Culloden " ran aground and was consequently unable to take any See also: part in the battle of the See also: Nile

He then served in the Mediterranean and was created a See also: baronet in 1799; from 18o1 to 1804 he was a See also: lord of the See also: admiralty, being made a See also: rear-admiral just before his retirement

In 18o5 See also: Troubridge was given a command in the East and he went out in the " See also: Blenheim." In See also: January 1807 in this ship, an old and damaged one, he See also: left See also: Madras for the Cape of See also: Good Hope, but off the See also: coast of See also: Madagascar the " Blenheim " foundered in a cyclone and the admiral perished
