KARL CHRISTOPH See also:

VOGT (1817-1895)  , See also:German naturalist and geologist, was See also:born at See also:Giessen on the 5th of See also:July 1817 . In 1847 he became See also:professor of See also:zoology at Giessen, and in 1852 professor of See also:geology and afterwards also of zoology at See also:Geneva, where he died on the 5th of May 1895 . His earlier publications were on zoology; he dealt with the See also:Amphibia (1839), See also:Reptiles (184o), with See also:Mollusca and See also:Crustacea (1845) and more generally with the invertebrate See also:fauna of the Mediterranean (1854) . His See also:separate See also:works include lm Gebirg and auf den Gletschern (1843); Physiologische Briefe (1845–46); Grundriss der Geologie (186o); and Lehrbuch der Geologie and Petrelactenkunde (2 vols., 1846–47 ; ed . 4, 1879) . An See also:English version of his Lectures on See also:Man: his See also:Place in Creation and in the See also:History of the See also:Earth was published by the Anthropological Society of See also:London in 1864 .
