Established in 1565, the Oldest City in America, is a popular vacation destination. After taking the St. Augustine exit off Interstate 95, head east down King Street in to the heart of this historic city. Don’t stop. Head over the Bridge of Lions on to Anastasia Island and stay at one of the more than twenty St. Augustine Beach hotels.

St. Augustine Beach is only about five miles from the historic downtown section of the city. You will see a black and white striped lighthouse as you travel along A1A (Beach Boulevard) toward one of the beach hotels. Traffic on Anastasia Island is far less hectic on this side of the St. Johns River. There are plenty of restaurants and small shops along A1A. The Hampton Inn, located at 430 A1A Beach Boulevard, about the center portion of Anastasia Island, is one good option for accomodations. This beachfront hotel is located about five miles from downtown historic St. Augustine. As far as St. Augustine Beach hotels go, the Hampton Inn ranks at the top of the list. This Hilton family of hotels, upholds the high standards of the prominent hotel chain. You can expect clean, well appointed rooms. Many of the rooms have great ocean views. Like every other Hampton Inn, a free, deluxe continental breakfast is included. You can rent a cabana for the day as you enjoy the large pool or take a dip in the ocean. Besides the nice facilities and location right on the beach, what makes the Hampton Inn stand out is their staff. Groups are always welcomed and the staff will be happy to arrange tours of the city, barbeques on the beach and excursions to one of the areas many fine golf courses.

Beacher’s Lodge is a condo/hotel located on the southern end of Anastasia Island. It faces out over Crescent Beach, the favorite beach of the local area residents. Usually very quiet, Crescent Beach is a wonderful place for an early morning walk. The Beacher’s Lodge is owned by individuals who rent their units out over the year.
There are three types of suites. The Studio Suite is the smallest and most economical. The Queen Suite, at 450 square feet, comfortably accomodates four and the King Suite, at 600 square feet is the largest. Each has its own decor and all are under the watchful eye of on-site management. Small kitchenettes with refrigerators, stove tops and microwave ovens are part of each suite. Some people come for a few days and others stay for a few months. St. Augustine Beach hotels are a smart choice for your next visit to the St. Augustine area.
