Denver, the mile high city, has a wealth of great downtown hotels. Each of these hotels offers an array of guest amenities but each also has unique features and services that appeal to guest’s differing tastes. The Westin Tabor Center, a four diamonds downtown Denver hotel, is just a block from the 16th Street Mall. It is just walking distance to the Denver Convention Center and the Performing Arts Center. The smoke free rooms have city and mountain views, “Heavenly” luxury beds, cable television and internet access. There is a heated pool on the rooftop with a magnificent view of the Denver skyline. Workout machines, Pilates programs, free weights and running routes are provided for guests’ exercise needs. The Westin’s Palm Restaurant serves delicious chef prepared specialty dishes to top off the evening. The Westin is a downtown Denver hotel that accepts pets up to 30 lbs. for free.

The Hotel Teatro, near the Performing Arts Center has 110 rooms beautifully decorated and furnished. The pride of the hotel is the Kevin Taylor Restaurant, which has earned the four diamond award. The hotel provides a Cadillac Escalade for guests who wish to go to other nearby restaurants and attractions. The Sheraton Denver Downtown has over 1300 rooms furnished with ergonomic desk chairs , high speed internet connections, cable televisions, and dual line phones. Continental breakfasts and evening hors d’oeuvres are niceties served to guests who can also dine at the Sheraton’s 1550 Restaurant or have drinks at the Club Lounge.

Two Hyatt hotels in downtown Denver are the Hyatt Regency Denver and the Grand Hyatt Denver. The Hyatt Regency has a 360 sq. ft. “business plan room” with three phones and continental breakfast included. The Regency has a fitness center called the Spa Universaire, with a lap pool, sauna, and exercise equipment. The Altitude Restaurant on the 14th floor of the Regency and its Peaks Rooftop Lounge offer not only views but great dining and drinks. Fifth on the list is the Grand Hyatt, unique among the downtown Denver hotels in having a 14 ft. fireplace in the lobby bar. The Grand Hyatt has a 24 hour fitness center with an indoor heated pool, and rooms with windows that open, marble bathrooms, and massaging shower heads. The 1876 Restaurant, the room amenities and the views are key features of the Grand Hyatt..

Three other downtown Denver hotels to consider are the Magnolia Hotel, the Hotel Monaco, and the Crowne Plaza Downtown. The Magnolia offers a complimentary breakfast, complimentary downtown transportation, and bed time cookie buffet. Harry’s Bar inside the hotel is a comfortable place to share drinks with friends, family, and business associates. The Hotel Monaco was named as one of the Top 500 best hotels in the world by Travel & Leisure magazine. Its amenities include in-room spa services, a 24 hour fitness center, and an award winning Italian restaurant. The Crowne Plaza Downtown Denver has an outdoor heated pool and an exercise room. The Crown Plaza Downtown lets kids eat free in its restaurant, gives concierge assistance with travel plans, and has internet and limousine services.

Finally, there are two boutique downtown Denver hotels, the Castle Marne and the Lumber Baron Inn. The Castle Marne is listed on the National Register of Historic Structures, and has all the features that such a historic building would have. Antique furnishings, outstanding period architecture, and old world elegance are its hallmarks. Yet the Castle Marne has the modern features of a first class hotel: internet access via Wi-Fi, hot tubs, and a formal dining room where breakfasts, afternoon teas, and excellent dinners are served to guests. Shopping in the gift shop where imported goods fill the shelves can be followed with a stroll in the Victorian Garden. The Lumber Baron Inn honors a Scottish immigrant in its name. This man, who was indeed a lumber baron in early Denver history, built the mansion that is now the hotel. The Lumber Baron’s unique feature is the dinner time murder mystery spiced with comedy. The Rocky Mountain News voted it the best bed & breakfast in Denver. The Lumber Baron has jacuzzis, HDTVs with DVD players in each room and Victorian decor to take you to yesteryear.
