Known as the queen city, Charlotte, North Carolina is located between Washington DC and Atlanta, Georgia. In 2007, Forbes named the city as the third most undervalued real estate market in the US. The city has won a number of accolades including the best walking city by Prevention magazine.

Major tourist attractions include the famous Latta Plantation, which was once a cotton farm. Built in 1800, it now houses displays that showcase the African American backcountry life. The Mint Museum of Art is Charlotte’s main museum and is a must see for art enthusiasts. Two historic bed and breakfasts in Charlotte include the Morehead Inn and the Duke Mansion. The B&B was built in 1917 by Charles Campbell Coddington and remained a private residence till 1980. It was opened as the Morehead Inn in 1985. It was picked as one of the best wedding venues of 2010 by TheKnot.com. Morehead Inn offers corporate discounts to companies located in the area but the website advises that this should be confirmed with their sales manager first.

The famous Duke Mansion was built in 1915 and is a fine example of Colonial Revival Architecture. It started operating as a bed and breakfast in 2005. It is located two miles away from Charlotte’s business district but arrange transportation on request. The Duke Mansion has 20 guest rooms and is a recipient of the four diamond award from the AAA.

Another historic bed and breakfast in Charlotte is the VanLandingham Estate, built in the year 1913. Originally a five acre sprawling estate, the house was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The Morehead Inn and the VanLandigham Estate are jointly owned by Unique Southern Estates.
