Clinique - 3-Step Skin Care system, Expansion, General cosmetics, Women’s Fragrance

line happy called clinique’s

The Clinique brand was first based on a 3-Step system of skin care. The first step is to cleanse the face with a special bar soap. The second step is to exfoliate the skin with a toner, called Clarifying Lotion. The third step is to moisturize with the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. Because Clinique categorizes skin types, the components of the 3-Step system are designed for these different types. Clinique marketed the “Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel,” an oil-free formula to those with oily skin. The gel absorbs excess oil, away from the skin, which balances the oil to water ration of the skin. Clinique now offers a liquid formula based on the ingredients of the bar-style face soap. 3-Step is a very integral line in the Clinique brand. The consumer can find out what type of skin they have by visiting Clinique’s cosmetic counter where consultants use a system to determine each person’s skin type. Products in the line are available for those with oily, combination oily, combination dry, and dry skin types.

Expansion

Clinique’s skin care line has expanded to encompass many skin care products, including those designed to deal with skin problems like, dryness, acne, excess oil, dullness, enlarged pores, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. One recently updated product is the Turnaround Concentrate which is a mixture of Chesnut Extract, Salicylic Acid, and Acetyl-Glucosamine. This product exfoliates the face and targets areas of major concern. Clinique introduced its first anti-aging product in 1999, called Stop Signs. Also recently introduced, the Anti-Gravity Firming Lift Cream, is said to cushion thinning skin by hydrating and firming the skin. Clinique created a Super Defense Triple Action Moisturizer with SPF 25 in 2005. This moisturizer comes in three formulas. Clinique also developed a facial care system meant for those who suffer from Rosacea, called CX. This line is also good for those with irritated skin and stretch marks.

In recent years, Clinique has begun to offer a larger collection of colors, after having concentrated on developing a more modest line of products. Clinique also sells makeup brushes that are dipped in an antibacterial solution.
