A poor New York teenager of the mid 1930s is forced into prostitution despite efforts to make a living otherwise, and ultimately becomes the city’s most famous madam, in this six hour adaptation of Harold Robbins’ 1955 potboiler. An Emmy nomination went to Yvonne Wood for her period costumes. Subsequently it was shown in two parts over four hours.
