Louis Armstrong -- Chicago Style

(ABC, 1/25/1976, 120 mins). An incident in the life of jazz great Louis Armstrong when, in 1931, he was booked into a small Chicago night spot, turning down a lucrative offer to move over to a club run by gangsters. His manager is bribed to secretly frame him on a marijuana charge, and he is forced to leave town ironically (after the film ends) going to Europe where he was to skyrocket to international fame. Ben Vereen made his dramatic acting debut playing the young Satchmo.
