AMERICA ‘S DREAM . 1995. (PG-13) 87 min. Drama. Three short stories exploring a glimpse of the African American experience between 1938 and 1958. Long Black Song is from a short story by Richard Wright. A hardworking Alabama farmer goes to town for supplies. In his absence, a white traveling salesman pays a visit to his farm, meets the farmer’s wife, and takes advantage of their mutual attraction, but their sinful union has a deadly aftermath. The Boy Who Painted Jesus Black deals with a young student who causes a great deal of controversy when he paints a black portrait of Jesus in 1948 Georgia . The Reunion is a short story by writer/poet Maya Angelou about a jazz pianist in Chicago who encounters the daughter of a white family her parents once served.
