CASEY, BERNIE (1939–). Athlete, actor. Casey was born in Wyco , West Virginia , and graduated from Columbus East High School in Columbus , Ohio . He played professional football for the San Francisco 49 years, 1961–1966, and for the Los Angeles Rams, 1967–1968. He made his big screen acting debut in Guns of the Magnificent Seven , 1969, and gained prominence during the 1970s film boom with starring roles in Hit Man , 1972; Cleopatra Jones , 1975; and Dr. Black, Mr. Hyde , 1976. His television movies include Brian’s Song , 1971; The Martian Chronicles , 1980; The Sophisticated Gents , 1981; and The Last Brickmaker in America , 2001. Later film roles include Sharky’s Machine , 1981; I’m Gonna Git You Sucka , 1988; and Once Upon a Time in America , 1995.
