HARRIS, THERESA (1909–1985). Actress, A true but often overlooked star of Hollywood’s Golden Era, Harris could sing, dance, and act with the best of them, but was mostly relegated to playing maid roles, which she did with dignity and grace. As one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood, she appeared in over 60 films between 1930 and 1958, working at every major studio with some of their biggest stars. She is perhaps best remembered for her role in Professional Sweetheart , 1933, with Ginger Rogers. Other movie roles include Drums o’Voodoo , 1934, Bargain with Bullets , 1937, Jezebel , 1938, and Miracle on 34th Street , 1947.
