McKEE, LONETTE (1954–). Actress. This Detroit, Michigan-born actress appeared for two years on the daytime soap opera As the World Turns , and has guest starred on television shows, such as The Equalizer, Amen , and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit . She had a recurring role on the series Third Watch . She was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the stage play Show Boat, and she appeared in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill , as songstress Billie Holiday. Her first feature film was Sparkle , 1976. Other film roles include Which Way is Up , 1977; Jungle Fever , 1991; and She Hate Me , 2004. She studied film directing at The New School in New York City, and teaches a master actor’s workshop at Cetenary College. She also writes and produces music with several CDs to her credit, including Natural Love .
