ROCHON, LELA (1964–). Actress. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Rochon studied journalism and theater at Cal State University while modeling on the side. After being in music videos for Luther Vandross and Lionel Ritchie, as well as starring in 28 Spuds Bud Light beer commercials, Rochon was ready for the bright lights of Hollywood. Her big break came from small parts in Harlem Nights , 1989, as a memorable character named Sunshine. Larger roles eventually followed in Waiting to Exhale , 1995, and Why Do Fools Fall in Love , 1998. Rochon has made guest appearances on television shows, such as Amen, The Cosby Show, Roc , and Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper , and she was a regular on The Wayans Brothers , and The Division . She is married to film director Antoine Fuqua.
