SENECA, JOE (1919–1996). Actor. He was born in Cleveland , Ohio , and started his entertainment career as a singer and songwriter, working the New York City supper clubs with the vocal group The Three Riffs. His notable film roles include The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh , 1979; Crossroads , 1986; and A Time to Kill , 1996. He appeared in the telefilms Wilma , 1977; Solomon Northup’s Odyssey , 1984; and A Gathering of Old Men , 1987. He made television guest appearances on the series Spencer for Hire, The Golden Girls, 227, A Man Called Hawk, Matlock, Law & Order, Sea Quest DSV , and In the Heat of the Night .
