SHAW, STAN (1952–). Actor. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was a karate and ju jitsu instructor before becoming an actor. With his fighting skills, he has played a professional fighter in many films, including Snake Eyes , 1998; Tough Enough , 1983; and Harlem Nights , 1989. He also portrayed boxing champion Joe Lewis in the telemovie The Court-Martial of Jackie Robinson , 1990. He began his acting career in the Chicago productions of the Broadway musicals Hair and The Me Nobody Knows . His television guest appearances include the series Starsky and Hutch, Matt Houston, Murder She Wrote, Hill Street Blues, Fame, Wise Guy, L. A. Law, Matlock, Early Edition , and The X Files .
