UNION, GABRIELLE (1973–). Actress. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Union moved with her family to Pleasanton, California, when she was eight years old. An athlete, she participated in soccer, basketball, and track in high school. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Southern California, Los Angeles to study law. While an intern at a modeling agency, she gained much attention, and signed on as a model herself. After shooting a spread for Teen Magazine , she began to audition for television appearances and landed a spot on Saved by the Bell: The New Class . Union began to gain recognition with guest roles on TV’s Moesha, 7th Heaven , and Clueless . She broke new ground on the 2001 season of Friends as the first African American love interest of one of the characters. Early big-screen roles included She’s All That , 1999, and Bring It On , 2000. Her more popular roles have been in Two Can Play That Game , 2001, and Bad Boys II , 2003.
