Cheap Tablet Pc - The Search for the Elusive Inexpensive Tablet PC - The Advent of the $100 Model

memory pcs person exist

Does such a creature as a cheap tablet PC exist? And, if so, is it best to go cheap on your purchase or should you “cough up” the additional dollars to buy a more expensive model? Honestly, the answer to these questions can all depend on your own personal situation. Different people with different budgets will look at different items as inexpensive. To one person a cheap tablet PC is not exactly cheap while to another person it could prove to be an enormous bargain. Again, the answer to whether or not a cheap tablet PC exists can depend solely on the person that is defining the term “cheap”.

The Advent of the $100 Model

Regardless of what you own individual budget may be, virtually every consumer of electronics will agree that paying $100 for a new tablet PC would be a veritable steal. Some may be outright shaking their heads in disbelief at such a sentiment. Really, how could there be such a thing as a $100 cheap tablet PC. Well, it does not really exist right now. However, there are plans (hopes and dreams?) for a $100 model and it is being designed by the non-profit group One Laptop Per Child. You could consider the ventures of this company to be environmentally friendly since the scaled down model would require less petroleum to produce. Unfortunately, we cannot get a gauge of how effective or reliable such a tablet PC will be since tentative plans are to release this item on the market in 2012 by the earliest. Right now, we are all pretty much stuck with paying the average prices for a new model.

The Not So Cheap Tablet PC Models That Are Still Kind Of Cheap

The price ranges on tablet PCs are in the $500 – $1,000 range. There are, however, other tablet PCs that can cost as low as $350. For many, a tablet PC that costs $300 or so dollars can be considered a relatively inexpensive model. Considering the value you can get out of it in terms of its use, a $350 investment may not be all that bad of a deal.

Want a Cheap Tablet PC? Don’t Pay for What You Do Not Need

One of the ways to lower the prices on a Tablet PC would be to pay for less memory. The amount of memory you require will be directly proportionate to the duties you will be employing the tablet for. Are you planning on mainly using office software along with basic multimedia programs? If so then it is not likely you need a lot of memory. So, you could purchase a “scaled back” model that does not drain you in terms of the money you have available for purchasing. And buying a cheap tablet PC right now that does not have much memory would be a much quicker fix than waiting two years for that $100 model!

Used Tablet PCs

Thinking of buying a used cheap tablet PC? This may prove to be a viable option but caveat emptor. You really don’t know how reliable a used model will be but if you do buy used, make sure it is intended as a backup model and not a primary one.
